There seems to be no end to the Mid-century Modern craze. New on the Cape Town scene is furniture store Space for Life, which now also stocks furniture sourced by the Tammy Lauren Collective (TLC).
Towards the end of 2010, interior designer Stefan Frylinck teamed up with three close friends to open Space for Life. The vision was to have a space where Stefan could offer an interior design service alongside a showroom of art and the collection of Mid-century Modern furniture pieces that two of the partners bought on their travels to Denmark. So well was the showroom received that they now regularly source and import new pieces from Denmark.
This week, TLC - which started its life as an online store - also launched at Space for Life. South African furniture items typical of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, sourced by partners Tammy Foote and Lauren Terras, now sit side by side to Stefan's European pieces.
Space for Life also has a range of Scandinavian designed and crafted ceramics and glass objets d’art, such as table and floor standing lamps, vases and bowls as well as homeware that includes wood and stainless steel bowls, dishes and trays.http://www.visi.co.za/http://www.visi.co.za/
